Situated on 22 acres land and having a covered area of 10 acres, the factory went into production in 1982. SAIL factory is located at Daudkandi, 43KM from Dhaka, on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway. Currently the Company employs 300 Management and 2600 Employees, who have requisite skill to ensure production of quality goods. Yearly turnover of the company at present is 9,000 Mt.'s.

The Geoponic Goal
Bangladesh being the deltoid drainage basin of rivers like Ganges, Brahmaputra, Padma, Jamuna etc.; criss-crossed by hundreds of small rivers & canals; added with numerous Beels and Haors; is humid and moist round the year. The land is flooded every year, leaving behind fresh deposits of rich alluvium, making the soil soft and highly fertile, suitable for cultivation of superior quality jute.
For successful cultivation, jute plants require rich alluvial soil; a warm, humid climate; and ample rainfall during growing months. Once the plant becomes well rooted, it is not affected by floods, and even grows luxuriantly while half merged in water. Water retting process is use to extract jute fibre from jute plant which requires abandon of fresh water to improve the fibre quality. Thus the seasonal flood in Bangladesh plays a major role both in enriching the soil and retting process to produce the best quality jute in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is qualitatively the best jute producing country and quantitatively the second largest producer in the world. It is also the sole exporter of raw jute to various countries in the world. Jute is the second largest natural fibre in the world. Unfortunately, onslaught of synthetic fibers has been increasing aggressively. Competitive strength of synthetic producers both financial and flexibility to manufacture tailor-made products for consumers at cheaper price, delivery within very short period, have displaced the demands for traditional jute products like Hessian, sacking and carpet backing cloths (CBC) to a large extent.
It is known by everybody, that the world is presently under devastating threat of green house effect as a result of environmental pollution. One of the main causes for pollution is random use of synthetic materials for consumer use. Jute is a sturdy natural fiber, which is the most echo-friendly, biodegradable and recyclable natural fibre in the world. It is the most suitable natural fibre in the world, which meets both the goals of green movement and social responsibility. It is also the least expansive natural fibers in large-scale use and second in volume production only to cotton in the world as natural fibre. Very little pesticide and fertilizer is needed to grow jute.
From soil preparation and cultivation to retting, drying and transport to local village market, to sell to middle man who sell in turn to larger middle man at a larger village market, six to ten hand changes before jute fibre is bought by either raw jute exporters or jute mill owners, involves large number of human resource. At this stage 100% fibre grading is done by hand picking the fibre and sorting them according to grade. After sorting, packing of the fibre are done in bales for export or sent to the mill to produce finished goods. Every step of the jute life cycle, from lay farmers up to skilled and experienced technicians and experts, requires large amount of people. For a country like Bangladesh, where population and environment are the major asset, jute and it's allied products is a realistic and sustainable field of economic play.
Jute is the only cash crop for the large number of marginal farmer in the rural area of Bangladesh. It is a regenerative plant which grows within six month but can be cultivated once in a year in low lying field and it also increase the fertility of the soil. Sometimes farmer are compel to grow jute during monsoon season to full fill their crop cycles to replenish the fertility of the soil after repeated cultivation of rice in the same field. Solution to the challenge posed by synthetic substitutes therefore lies in executing research & development of products and processes that can yield quality jute product with advantages over its competing products.
To meet up the challenge, Sonali Aansh Group has diversified its export basket in recent years. The group, for the last few years, has been manufacturing and exporting non-traditional jute goods to several countries of Europe, U.S.A., Australia, Japan and South Korea.
